Onlooker Project
Manhattan Squares
In my work I seek to capture the movement and vibrancy of moments in time. I am drawn to juxtapositions, patterns, and perspectives that highlight the fluidity and dynamism of our surroundings. This continuous search for energy allows me to see the intricate polarities that lie beneath the surface of otherwise static geometric shapes.
Today, I am particularly drawn to the water tanks that dot the industrial scenes of New York City's rooftops. I explore the juxtaposition of these small, rounded tanks that hold within them a most vital element—water—within the sea of buildings they perch upon. These water tanks serve as a fascinating focal point in capturing striking perspectives of the urban landscape.
The Onlooker Project captures authentic moments I've experienced in New York while walking through the city and its various neighborhoods. Each canvas is painted in oil over an acrylic base of complimentary colors to create enhanced vibrancy in the final product.
